The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has been compelled to slash its budget for the election of the party president slated for Thursday.

The party officials have said that they have cut the budget for the event to sh170m from the earlier planned amount of sh250m after failing to raise it.

FDC had to adjust the program to leave out some of the less necessary activities to suit the budget, party spokesperson Wafula Ogutu told a news conference FDC Villas in Kampala in Kampala.

He said duet to the shortfall, bookings in expensive hotels for delegates around Kampala have been cancelled in favor of cheaper accommodation alternatives.

A total of 855 party officials from across the country will take part in the election at Mandela National stadium Namboole.
