Uganda climbs to 81 in FIFA rankings

Cranes’ 2015 Nations Cup qualifying results against Ghana and Guinea did not only propel Uganda to the top of Group E.
 
The 1-1 draw against the Black Stars and 2-0 win over Guinea have moved Uganda six places to a joint 81st position with Morocco in the World and 20th in Africa according to the latest FIFA World rankings released on Thursday.
 
Uganda’s previous 87th place is interestingly occupied by their next Nations Cup qualifying opponents Togo.
 
The rankings also portray Uganda as the best-placed East African nation ahead of Rwanda (101), Kenya (104), Tanzania (110), Ethiopia (112), Sudan (115) and Burundi (129).
 
World Cup champions Germany are ranked first followed by finalists Argentina. Spain and Brazil are joint seventh. England is 20th.
