The Libyan government has pledged to continue supporting the Muslim community in Uganda. The director of World Islamic Call Society (WICS), Muhammad Shater, said they would channel their support through WICS.

“Libyans under this body are committed to supporting others for the sake of Allah. We purely ensure that all brothers and sisters in this fraternity are equal,” he said.

Shater was speaking during a WICS delegates’ workshop at Hotel Africana in Kampala on Thursday last week. WICS is a charity organisation which raises its resources from contributions from Libyans.

Shater advised Muslims to work together to find a solution to the threat to the Islamic identity in the world.

WICS builds mosques, provides humanitarian relief and gives free university education to the poor.

It is the organisation that built the National Gadaffi Mosque at Old Kampala. Currently, it caters for the electricity, water and maintenance bills of the mosque.
