The performing arts and commercial premises using audio visual equipment need to adapt high quality equipment that can guarantee good output to remain globally competitive, a distributor has advised.

Boaz Shani, director of Technet, the local firm distributing professional audio and visual equipment from Indonesia, Israel and Japan says to ensure that the industry progress at the same pace as the rest of the world, companies and governments must be ready to invest.

Uganda through the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is pushing marketing of the local industry as an alternative channel of employment.

Nigeria and South Africa have made great strides with the film industry now a major revenue contributor.
But Boaz noted that Africa generally and Uganda in particular is growing very fast and adapting new technologies but more needs to be done.

“In Uganda we have fibre optics everywhere, some places in the world don’t have,” noted Boaz at the unveiling of professional audio and visual equipment from Japan and Indonesia.

The Toa audio and visual brands from Indonesia also provide indoor solutions. Their range of products includes public address systems, board room equipment, evacuation solution, intercoms, access control, wireless microphones and conferencing.

He noted that with the onset of digital migration, firms and individuals will begin to upgrade slowly and with bigger budgets.
“It takes time, money and things begin to evolve,” noted Boaz at the launch of Toa.

He also noted that the equipment that have been used in places like the Manchester United stadium,Old Traffor) and the Jomo Kenyatta airport will go a long way in curbing the rampant fake products on the market.

In Uganda, they provided the sound and visual solutions for the new Acacia mall, UCC building and the Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The Krammer has video distribution equipment which helps producers to for instance to monitor input from different sources.

The equipment is seen as timely for the digital migration environment. The video technology is from Israel.
