The UPDF is mourning the death of their Congolese comrade, Maj. Gen. Ambamba Bahuma, who has been instrumental in fighting the Uganda rebel Allied Democratic Front (ADF) in North Kivu Province Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)

Maj. Gen. Ambamba Bahuma, the regional military commander in the area reportedly passed away in a South African Hospital a few days after a meeting with his Ugandan counterparts in Kasese last Wednesday over cross-border security.

“It is very unfortunate indeed,” the UPDF second Division commander, Brig. Peter Elwelu, said briefly on Sunday.

Brig Elwelu however, did not say much; “I am in a meeting with mzee” before he hang up.

During the meeting the meeting at Springs Hotel in Kasese Municipality last week, the UPDF hailed the Congolese army for intensifying operations against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels.
