Mukono Police have arrested one person in connection to the death of Buyaga Member of Parliament Barnabas Tinkasimire's wife,
Agnes Ageno Tinkasimire.

Police have identified the suspect as Fred Mwesigwa who was Agne’s tenant at Hamu Mukasa village in Mukono Municipality.

The village chairperson, Moses Mulindwa, told New Vision that Mwesigwa, a tenant of Tinkasimire’s wife, had developed misunderstandings with her over a visitor he wanted to stay with.

Mulindwa said that Ageno reported the matter to him and asked Mwesigwa either chase his visitor or the two of them vacate her place.

She said she was not sure of her security to allow two men stay with her in the same premises.

“Mwesigwa instead left but unfortunately, fire gutted the house a day after he had left,” Mulindwa said.

The Kampala metropolitan spokesperson, Ibin Senkumbi, said that they arrested Mwesigwa on Saturday as investigations heated up.

“Our investigations are still going on. They are now spearheaded by Police’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and we hope to get the right people connected to the incident soon,” Senkumbi said.

Agnes, together with a relative, sustained grievous injuries last week when suspected arsonists torched the MP’s house in Mukono.

Sadly, Agnes died Sunday night after spending five days in the intensive care unit at Mulago national referral hospital fighting for her life. Doctors said she sustained extensive damage to crucial body organs.
