KAMPALA - Access passes to the fourth edition of Vision Group’s Pakasa Forum on Saturday are now available at the New Vision reception on Plot 19/21, First Street, Industrial Area.

Beginning at 8:00am today, whoever received an email response accepting their registration to take part in the forum can present their valid identification at the reception and get their pass.

The same goes for those who registered from the New Vision reception for the event, which will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at the Kampala Parents School in Naguru under the theme; Creating Opportunities for Youth in East Africa.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta will be the keynote speaker, while Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni is also expected to address the mainly youth crowd.

Vision Group head of marketing Susan Nsibirwa has advised all people approved to attend the event to turn up early to avoid being inconvenienced by the rigorous security checks.

“For security reasons, ladies should desist from carrying those big bags they usually carry around,” she added.

Audiences at the forum will stay connected with their peers using free WiFi on their mobile phones, courtesy of MTN, who will also live-stream the event on their website.

The other key sponsor, Uganda Communications Commission, dedicated a big sum of money towards the forum as part of their culture to support innovation among the youth, especially those developing or adopting Information and Communications Technology, an aspect that will be key in the discussions at the forum.

Meanwhile, in a latest partnership, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation has also confirmed that they will air the forum live. The TV station, which also broadcasts across the region, including on paid-for channels in Rwanda and Burundi, joins the other four regional TV stations that will telecast the show across East Africa.

The stations include Uganda’s Urban TV, which is also available in Kenya and Tanzania via Azam TV; Rwanda Broadcasting Corporation and two other Kenyan TV stations, K24 and Citizen TV.

Vision Group’s boss Robert Kabushenga says President Kenyatta will take questions from the audience after his keynote speech.

Those unable to tweet him via the hashtag #askuhuru. can SMS their questions earlier by typing Askuhuru, followed by the question and sending it to 8338. That way, the host, Kabushenga, will be able to relay the questions to the president as the event is underway.

According to Dennis Itumbi, Kenyatta’s senior director for digital, new media and the diaspora, the Kenyan President is already responding to questions tweeted to him via #askuhuru.

“The President is happy to take and respond to questions on anything, from unemployment to nyama choma,” says Itumbi. Itumbi is part of the Kenyan President’s advance team already in the country ahead of the event.

Meanwhile, Daniel Mumbere, host of the #tag show on Urban TV, has hinted on more interaction with Itumbi and Urban TV current affairs manager Angelo Izama tonight at 7:30pm on #tag.
