At least five television stations across East Africa will telecast the fourth edition of Vision Group’s Pakasa Forum this Saturday.

Vision Group’s Urban TV in Uganda, Rwanda Broadcasting Corporation, and three Kenyan TV stations K24, Citizen TV and Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, have confirmed they will air the much-anticipated forum, which will host Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta as the keynote speaker.

The forum, which will run under the theme Creating Opportunities for Youth in East Africa, will take place at Kampala Parents in Naguru, a Kampala Suburb, beginning at 9:00am.

“Citizen TV will go live with the event for an hour, with specific focus on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s keynote speech, while Urban TV, Citizen TV, K24, Rwanda Broadcasting Corporation and Kenya Broadcasting Corporation will be live throughout the event’s five hours,” says Mark Walungama, the head of television at Vision Group.

Meanwhile, footage from the past three Pakasa Forum events is already running on Urban TV in a build-up to Saturday, while Vision Group’s radio platforms are also gearing up for the event.

According to Vision Group head of radio Bill Tibingana, five of the group’s radio stations will relay all the proceedings in real time, with analyses expected later on after the event to move the story forward.

Tibingana said X FM, Radio West, Etop, Rupiny and Arua One are all ready to furnish their audiences with the important nation-building deliberations that will go on at Kampala Parents.

X FM station manager Siima Sabiti said updates on what will be happening at Kampala parents will run on Vision Groups other radio stations that will not be broadcasting live, like Bukedde FM.

Also, free WiFi will be available at the forum courtesy of MTN Uganda, who also intend to live-stream the event.

Those intending to take part in the forum have until end of today to send their details to pakasaforum@newvision.co.ug , as the ceiling on admittance is 3000 guests due to limited space and security concerns.

A corporate social responsibility initiative of Vision Group, the Pakasa Forum seeks to bridge the information gap on where resources, opportunities and support for the youth in Uganda can be accessed.

The forum, now running for the fourth time, is inspired by Pakasa, a pullout that covers entrepreneurship issues in the New Vision every Friday.

The pullout tells stories of successful entrepreneurs and the hurdles they overcame to get there, and gives expert advice on aspects of starting up and operating business in Uganda.
