As SC Villa fight to build a new image, the administration has ordered all their dreadlocked players shed off their dreads and spot a clean head.

While meeting the players at their new base in Mityana on Friday Villa president Immanuel Misagga ordered that all players at the club must keep their hair short to create a corporate image.

“You are not going to portray a clean image of a disciplined team when you are wearing dreadlocks, which society associates with indiscipline. You must shed them or you will not play for Villa. You can wear them after turning professional,” Misagga said.

The directive has generated mixed feeling among players at Villa.

Players affected by the decision include Derrick Walulya, Moses Nsubuga, Erisa Sekisambu, Fred Nkata and Yayo Lutimba, who are all on trial at the club.

While defender Walulya and goalkeeper Ali Kimera and midfielder Moses Gale (also on trials) are okay with the decision, Lutimba who is on trial has not taken it easy.

Kimera said that, “Every club has its own norms and if that is Villa’s decision as a player, I have to follow it.”

Walulya, who has spotted dreadlocks for over three years now quickly turned emotional over the decision but agreed to follow the directive but Lutimba, who is also linked with a return to Express FC is not at ease.

Villa has moved the team's home ground to Mityana where they have camped for a week and open the FUFA Super League season against Sport Club Victoria University at Mityana Sports grounds next Friday (August 22).
