Leila, Super Lady renew rivalry in Pearl Rally

Popular female drivers Leila Irene Blick Mayanja and Susan Muwonge aka super Lady will renew their rivalry in the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally that starts on Friday August 15 and ends Saturday August 16.

Popular female drivers Leila Irene Blick Mayanja and Susan Muwonge aka super Lady will renew their rivalry in the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally that starts on Friday August 15 and ends Saturday August 16.
 
Leila told the New Vision that she is well prepared for the rally and targeting one of the top five positions if the podium finish fails. 
 
“I'm coming not only to fight men but to end my female colleague's dominance. I'm confident I can achieve what she has achieved,” Leila stated. 
 
“I have been driving throughout this season and am fit and familiar with my car unlike her (Susan) who has not been driving,” Leila added.
 
When contacted Suzan aid, “I made a name and I can’t compete with Leila but let her try her lack.”  
 
Susan aka Super Lady won the National Rally championship (NRC) in 2011, the Nile Special/USPA Super rally driver of the year and Nile Special Uganda Sports Press Association Sports personality (USPA) of the Year. 
 
Suzan also finished fifth in the 2007, 2012 and 2013 Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally. 
 
Eight foreign crews including, Gary Chaynes, Morifere Soumaoro (Ivory Coast),Mohamed Essa (Zambia),Jaspreet Chatthe,Chhabhadia Chandrakant (Kenya) Giancarlo Davite (Rwanda), and Christakis Fitidis will battle Uganda’s Jas Mangat who is the pearl Rally defending champion.

Meanwhile Ogas Solutions, the Human resource and safety training firm and Coca Cola have boosted the event with sponsorship.
 
Ogas committed sh2.5m to cater for the safety marshal’s budget while Coca cola will provide refreshments.
 
The 522km event is co-sponsored by Shell V-Power, Silver Springs Hotel and Fire and Safety appliances.
