Bukedde, Uganda’s leading Luganda newspaper is to mark its 20th anniversary with a commemorative edition that will carry the unique and captivating stories the newspaper has published over the years.

Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, Robert Kabushenga, announced that the Bukedde souvenir edition will be produced on August 29, 2014, when the newspaper will be celebrating 20 years since it hit the streets.

As part of the celebrations, Bukedde will also give out prizes to its readers including all-expense paid trips to Dubai.

“This edition is the first of its kind. I would like to ask our readers and companies to buy copies for their friends and relatives because they will wait for another 20 years to get it again,” Kabushenga said.

The special edition that will carry compelling stories, he noted, is an opportunity that advertisers should not miss. “It is going to be a very unique and big paper. People will buy copies and keep them for years. It’s a big opportunity for advertisers,” he stressed.

Kabushenga said the achievement is worth celebrating because it has created a huge impact in the society.

“People see and read about themselves in Bukedde. It carries stories that are dear to the readers like Buganda Kingdom issues and entertainment. Bukedde’s success is the reason for the imitation you are seeing in the market. Of course poor imitation does not last long,” he added.
