Americans spearhead planting of 10,000 trees

A group of Americans has donated 10,000 fruit trees worth over sh122m to communities in Jinja, Buikwe and Mukono districts.

A group of Americans has donated 10,000 fruit trees worth over sh122m to communities in Jinja, Buikwe and Mukono districts.

The fruit trees will also be planted at UPE schools, health facilities, orphanage, prisons and in homes.

Addressing a press conference in Jinja, the executive director Fruit Tree Planting Foundation- USA, (FTPF) Cem Akin said the fruit trees are for nutrition and environmental protection.

He added that the fruit trees are sustainable and can live for over 100 years.

During the unveiling of FTPT in Jinja, the executive director, Africa Partnership on Climate Change (APCCC) Edward Munaaba, said that Jinja community will work with NGOs to plant 10,000 fruit trees.
