Thousands of Christians on Saturday witnessed the ordination of two priests of Lira Diocese in Aloi Sub County, Alebtong district.

LIRA - Thousands of Christians on Saturday witnessed the ordination of two priests of Lira Diocese in Aloi Sub County, Alebtong district.

Deacons Lawrence Opio of Aloi Sub County and Walter Ojuka of Apala Sub County all in Alebtong district were ordained in to priest during the function that took place at St. Mary’s Catholic chapel, Aloi Ongom.

Bishop of Lira Joseph Franzeli who was the chief celebrant at the function urged the new priests to full fill the call of their creator and to deceased from the sins that are prevalent in the world of today.

“As a servant of Jesus Christ, I send you to the world, go and spread the gospels of the lord guard against the sins of the world”, said Joseph Franzeli, the Bishop of Lira catholic diocese.

The ordination was attended by Benson Obua Ogwal, the area MP of Moroto County, Dickens Kennedy Odongo, the district chairman of Alebtong district and the Resident District Commissioner of Alebtong among others.

  This is the second ordination at Lira Catholic Diocese with a total of three deacons and three priests ordained.

Two other deacons; John Bosco Oryema of Aboke Catholic parish and Deogracious Odwee of Amolatar Catholic parish will be ordained priests in the next two weeks according to the diocesan statement.

Nekolina Akello, mother to Lawrence Opio, one of the ordained priests expressed joy saying she has sacrificed her son with all her heart to serve the lord.
