Kisenyi traders have appealed to Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA ) chief, Jennifer Musisi, to reign in on enforcement officers who they accuse of destroying their merchandise during city operations.

Led by their leader Hajji Juma Bbosa Sserukuma, the traders told  the Senior Presidential Advisor on political affairs, Moses Byaruhanga that Musisi had agreed that the offloading time was between 5.00am and 9.00am.

However, according to their testimony, KCCA enforcement officers have breached the truce.

“They come at 7.00am and take away tradeesr merchandise. We call upon Musisi to prevail over these enforcement officers. Traders are not thieves. We are poor people looking for money. Treat us well, don’t embarrass us,” Bbosa said on Wednesday during a meeting organized by NRM leaders in Kisenyi to celebrate the construction of Kafumbe-Mukasa Road.

On his part, Byaruhanga promised to fix a meeting traders' leadesr to interact with KCCA and find a way forward.

“In NRM we don’t fight poverty by taking away people’s capital. That is not the way the Movement works. We shall look into the problems of the traders. I will also lead a team of your leaders to the KCCA for talks on how we can operate,” he said.

On Tuesday night, Musisi visited Kafumbe-Mukasa Road and urged the traders not to litter the road.

During this interaction with Kisenyi traders, NRM supporters also endorsed President Yoweri Museveni as a sole candidate for 2016.

The motion to support Museveni was tabled by Kisenyi II women councillor Hajat Minsa Kabanda.
