New National Council of Sports board named

Bosco Onyik will serve as acting National Council of Sports chairman until expiry of the current board’s term next year.

Education and Sports State minister Charles Bakkabulindi elevated Onyik, who has been a board member in new changes at Lugogo, Nakivubo and Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

The changes come shortly after the resignation of Anthony Katamba. Katamba quit after a disagreement over management of the refurbished MTN Lugogo Arena.

Bakkabulindi has also appointed journalists Kato Kawuma and Geoffrey Ndugga, senior police officer Andrew Sorowen onto the NCS board. Sam Odong, a civil servant, will serve as ex-officio.

Bakkabulindi also named a new board for Nakivubo stadium. He returned Godfrey Kisekka as chairman.

Eddie Ssembatya is vice chairman, Minsa Kabanda (treasurer), Paul Waisswa, Andrew Kaweesa, Rogers Mulindwa, Hasfa Nabukeera, Jolly Alipa and Timothy Ayeko were appointed as members.

Yusuf Mukoka is ex-officio. CBS radio sports reporter Faridah Bongole is press officer. Another journalist Norman Katende has been named as press officer on the Namboole board.
