Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has warned impersonators posing as KCCA staff and defrauding the public off their money.

The authority has learnt that several people have been defrauded of their money by persons claiming to be employees of the authority.

"We have received reported cases of impersonators of KCCA staff who are said to have on several occasions performed fake enforcement operations and issued fake assessments for trading licenses," the KCCA deputy director revenue collection, Robert Nowere said.

He also said taxi drivers, too have been defrauded of park fees and given fake receipts.

Nowere told reporters that some of the people defrauding funds from the public are suspected to be former Kampala City Council (KCC) workers who know the entire system and have uniforms and identity cards.

He however encouraged the public to pay their taxes to right enforcement officers who have KCCA identification numbers advising that they should go to the designated KCCA offices.
