A Kampala trader has shocked his in-laws by dumping their daughter for failing to bear him an heir.

Mathew Sserubidde, who dumped the mother of his three daughters and is set to wed football coach Sam Ssimbwa’s daughter, says he is convinced his wife will not bear him an heir.

The turn of events is in fact like a bad dream.

Sserubidde’s new bride Milly Bayiiyana made headlines in 2012 when, together with her siblings, they ganged up against a musician, Sophie Nantongo, and hounded her out of their father’s house in Bweyogerere – Ntebetebe.

They accused Nantongo of breaking up their mother’s marriage. Two years later the script is the same only a different cast.

Sserubidde’s jilted wife, Len Sserubidde, is accusing Bayiiyana, Sam Ssimbwa's daughter, of snatching her man.

Sserubidde, a spare parts dealer on Martin Road in Kampala, was introduced to Len’s parents in 2012 at Bulenga on Mityana Road.

Those in the know of what is going on say Sserubidde’s mother has been inciting him to get a woman who will produce him an heir.

After this reporter painstakingly managed a comment from Len, she said it was true her mother-in-law had raised the issue of her not bearing his son an heir.

She said she had pleaded for leniency that she was still young and God would gift her with a boy because it was not her making that she was only producing girls.

Insult to injury

Besides being dumped, Len has been hounded out of their marital home as Sserubidde is set to be introduced by Ssimbwa’s daughter this weekend.

Len’s friends who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity said Ssimbwa’s daughter gave Sserubidde conditions for introducing him to her parents among which were taking over their new house in Gayaza.

Sserubidde has already gotten approval from Ssimbwa to take his daughter though some of the groom’s relatives have vowed not to attend the function.

Some of Ssimbwa’s relatives as well have shown their displeasure in giving away their daughter to a man they consider already married.
