The Police in Mbarara are holding five foreigners suspected to have entered the country illegally.

The South Western Region Police commander, Martin Abilu, said the four Eritrea nationals and a German were arrested in Jussy Pub and Lodge in Kijungu, a Mbarara, suburb in Western Uganda.

On Sunday evening, the Police got information that terrorists had planted a bomb at Agip Motel in Mbarara town. They swung into action and searched all crowded public places in the town, but no bomb was recovered, Abilu told journalists on Thursday.

“During the operation, we cordoned off Jussy Lodge and found the five foreigners in one room,” Abilu said.

He identified the suspects as Senai Mehari Tesfay, 24, Fanuel Tezare Kifle, 34, Muhamed Muhamud 33, Henok Gebrmichel Bitsuamlak, 30 from Eritrea and Abel Tereza 30, a Germany national.

Abilu said Henok Gebrmichel Bitsuamlak, a resident of Kabowa in Kampala, holds a refugee identification card number 3350004398, while Abel Tereza, is a businessman operating between Kampala and Juba in South Sudan.

He said the suspects’ file was forwarded to the DPP’s office for legal advice on the charges to be preferred against them.
