Opening up his Olympic campaign with world seed number 36 has not worried Edwin Ekiring, who believes that the time is now for him to leave an impact at the international scene.
The player, who has been training in Netherlands ever since the late Maj. Gen. Francis Nyangweso suggested that his scholarship money is diverted from South Africa over 8 years ago, says that he has learnt enough to make him stand up and be counted.
He says that he has managed to get experience and exposure from the many competitions he has competed in across the globe. He also believes that it is the mental and physical preparations that win such games and it is these that he is trying to keep in shape ahead of his first game on Saturday.
“It is going to be tight I know but my body is well prepared for that. It is this preparation that I have been working on with my coach whenever I go to court at Wembley,” said the player, who has been able to train with the Dutch and Irish team ahead of the Games.
“I t is good that I now have no injury and I am rearing to go. It is my second Olympics and I need to go a step further,”  he added.
Ekiring is the lowest ranked player in the Group F at 98, which also has seed 16, Wong Wang Ki, who is ranked 20th in the World.
