The Buganda Parliamentary caucus is meeting today to discuss a chain of social, political and economic issues affecting the Kingdom.

The meeting to be opened by the Katikiro of Buganda Eng. JB Walusimbi at Katomi Kingdom Resort, owned by the former vice-president Gilbert Bukenya.

The chairperson of the caucus, Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi told Saturday Vision that the meeting was a follow up of the earlier one that took place on June 8 -9.

“During the previous meeting, the caucus constituted committees to follow up on some issues. We are meeting to get feedback from the committees,” Kiwanda said.

The committee that was constituted to establish the arrears, which the central government owes the Kingdom, was one of those expected to table its findings.

The committee, headed by Tim Lwanga was constituted after the Katikiro; asked MPs to help him secure billions of shillings the central government owed Buganda.

Kiwanda also disclosed that during the meeting several people were to present papers on the different topics on the crucial issues in the Kingdom.

Those to present the papers included Bukenya (former vice-president) and Amelia Kyabadde, the Minister of Trade.

Bukenya was to present a paper on new economic activities in Buganda while Kyambadde’s was on government’s programmes which benefit Buganda.

The meeting was also expected to discuss federalism after having constituted a committee to study it and come up with the best form to be tabled in Parliament.

The vice-President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi was to close the one day meeting.
