The Ford Foundation in America granted funds to the Uganda Electricity Board (UEB) to study how its training programmes could be speeded up. The results of the study were expected to help in the development of training techniques for the other organisations and departments


The Ford Foundation in America granted funds to the Uganda Electricity Board (UEB) to study how its training programmes could be speeded up. The results of the study were expected to help in the development of training techniques for the other organisations and departments.

Funds were availed after Erisa Kironde, the UEB deputy chairperson approached the foundation. The help from the Ford Foundation was to last two years and was expected to enable a full investigation of the training processes.

At the time of Uganda’s independence, UEB solely managed and run the distribution electricity, mainly to a few households, coffee, textile and corn mills, public premises, hospitals and military installations.
