The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development has called upon the youth to take advantage of Government Programmes to enable them utilize the skills they have obtained from the AIDS Support Organisation Community HIV prevention care and support programme.

The assistant commissioner of children affairs from the Ministry, James Kaboyo, says most of the people living with HIV/AIDS are young people but many have failed to sustain themselves because of limited funds to start up their own businesses yet Government Initiatives could help resolve their dilemma.

He revealed this during the closure of the financial support to the TASO community based HIV Prevention Care and Support Programme that had been running in 11 districts across the country.

The Executive Director of the Aids Support Organisation, Christine Nabiryo, says the initiative has helped put them in a good position to support and empower over 200,000 people with skills and she adds that the closure of the project will see over 100 staff lose their jobs.
