ANOTHER SC Villa presidential candidate Dennis Mbidde has stepped down ahead of elections on July 26 at Namboole Stadium.

Mbidde’s withdrawal follows an earlier one of Mohammed Bazirengedde, who did the same two weeks ago.

Mbidde and Bazirengedde in presence of outgoing president Salim Ssemmanda and general secretary Topha Musoke officially announced their decisions at a meeting in Kampala on Thursday.

Mbidde and Bazirengedde said that they took their separate decisions because Ben Misagga has the best development plan for the club.

The decision means Misagga awaits the club general assembly to be installed as the new president replacing Ssemmanda.

Misagga has effectively announced a number of development projects for the club and the first move even before he officially assumes the office is to appoint Polly Ouma the club’s first technical director.

Mbidde said that; “Misagga is already the president and I will be the first deputy president of Villa.”

Mbidde will take the post of deputy president in charge of marketing and company strategy while Bazirengedde takes charge as deputy president in charge of administration at Villa Park.

In 2006, Misagga was headed for the SC Villa leadership unopposed when Fred Kawuma stepped down for him but it was aborted when a group of elders of the club objected to the elections.

And to avoid a similar scenario, Misagga said that he had planned to meet Umar Mandela and other former leaders of the club to discuss any eventualities.
