The Archbishop of Rubaga, Dr. Joseph Kiwanuka, rejected an appeal by the acting Katikkiro of Buganda, Mr. Francis Walugembe, for a special day of prayer throughout Buganda for the Ugandan rulers who were in London for the Uganda Constitutional Conference.

Making the appeal, Walugembe told all religious leaders that the talks were the last before independence and everyone wanted the conference to go well and bene_ t all people. The letter was addressed to religious leaders in Buganda, but the archbishop felt that the right procedure would have been approaching the Prime Minister who would then have appealed to the religious leaders, because the London Conference concerned the whole country.
