Jethro Opolot Professor of education psychology, dead

A retired pioneer professor of education psychology in Uganda, Jethro Opolot is dead. He died Thursday morning on his way to Mulago hospital after suffering from gaut according to Prof. John Asibo Apuda one of his friends.

A retired pioneer professor of education psychology in Uganda, Jethro Opolot is dead. He died Thursday morning on his way to Mulago hospital after suffering from gaut according to Prof. John Asibo Apuda one of his friends.

Prof. Asibo revealed that the late has been ill for a long time. Before his death the late who hails from Usuk in Katakwi district, taught in Makerere University for over 40 years before retiring.

The late is in his late 70s, has been a part time lecture at Uganda Christians University after his retirement at Makerere University.

According to the will of the late, he wanted to be buried in Opure in Serere district where his brother was buried.
“Initially he is from Katakwi but due to the raids by the Karamojong cattle rustlers they were forced to live that place. They bought land in Serere,” Prof. Apuda told New Vision.

Prof. Francis Omaswa described the late as one of the brilliant professors that Teso was proud off. “It’s sad that we have lost him at a time we are recovering from the demise of Mzee Cuthbert Obwangor,” Prof. Omaswa said. The burial is due on Sunday according to the tentative programme.
