All is not well for city tycoon Drake Lubega, whose wife, Benita, filed for divorce in the High Court, over what she calls relentless harassment.

Lubega and Benita have been together for 18 years and have four children. The couple tied the knot on December, 23, 2000 at Namirembe Cathedral.

Through her lawyers, Benita wants court to allow her get a share of their property in the city and elsewhere.

However, Lubega says despite their disagreements, he still loves Benita. He accuses another city tycoon of being behind the divorce.

Lubega owns 25 buildings in the city, including Majestic Plaza on William Street, Qualicel Building, Vienna House on Ben Kiwanuka Street, Jesco building in Nakivubo, SB Plaza and the land where Qualicel Bus terminal was constructed.

Benita reportedly wants court to give her nine of the buildings and a chain of other properties. She says for a long time, they have had a troubled relationship, with Lubega often beating her.

“But the worst happened when I converted from Christianity to Islam recently,” she says.

Benita says that since then, Lubega has been threatening to kill her and that on the night of April 30, he chased her out of their house on Plot 36 Elizabeth Avenue
