Police have arrested six people believed to be Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) members over plan to torch a police station.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Ibin Senkumbi said the suspects were arrested as they attempted to penetrate the Central Police Station in Kampala.

“We are very vigilant and have beefed up security at all police stations because we have information that FDC members are planning to torch police stations countrywide,” Senkumbi told New Vision Monday.

The suspects are identified as Rajab Kaaya, Julius Nuwagaba, Nasser Mubonde, Ismail Kasule, Martin Byamugisha and Moses Owor.

Senkumbi said the suspects will be charged with disobedience of lawful order and an attempt to burn a police station.

He said they were demanding for the release of their colleagues who were recently arrested in connection with the killing of a police chief Bosco Ariong.

FDC president. Dr. Kizza Besigye criticised the arrest describing it as injustice. "Museveni will definately go. Its a matter of time," Besigye remarked.
