Uganda today is facing declining water stock and quality due to pollution.

For the last 9 years, Air Water Earth (AWE) Limited, a regional environmental and civil engineering consulting firm and its pollution control equipment subsidiary have been at the fore of designing innovative and cost-effective industrial wastewater and sewage treatment solutions for clients in East Africa.

Eng. Lammeck Kajubi, President & CEO of AWE Group says that all services they provide have one goal - to ensure that development projects and industrial development in the region do not pollute or degrade the natural environment and water resources.

Kajubi, adds that their services benefit both clients and wider society. “In many instances, pollution is actually money flushed down the drain therefore pollution prevention presents financial savings and ensures continual regulatory compliance for clients. The benefit of this to society is that developmental activities cordially co-exist with environmental conservation, which sustainable development is all about,” says Kajubi.
He says that the firm will always incessantly look for innovative solutions to challenges faced by their clients so as to lower costs of regulatory compliances, save money and enable them to be ahead of their competition in environmental requirements.

“In doing this, we will continue to always look beyond the obvious and conventional ways of doing things. For example, we now can provide containerized package treatment plants that are far cheaper than conventional concrete plants, have small footprint, high efficiency, low labour requirement, low power consumption and are portable. The company has recently installed one such package wastewater plant at a leading dairy processing plant with very impressive results which may see this factory being the very first zero-discharge facility in Uganda.” says Eng.Kajubi.

Kajubi says that the company in 2011 acquired ISO 9001:2008 certification in order to enhance its tradition and commitment of providing consistently high quality, infinitely reproducible services to clients. Kajubi says that every person has a role in ensuring good environmental health; “There is no reason for us to continue dumping untreated wastes in our rivers and lakes because today technology is such that waste management is cheaper than it used to be a decade ago
