supply and delivery of science kits to selected secondary schools in Northern Uganda

PRESS RELEASE

UGANDA POST PRIMARY EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAM- APL PROJECT

1. The Government of the Republic of Uganda received financing in the amount of US$ 150 million equivalent from the World Bank towards the cost of Uganda Post Primary Education and Training (UPPET) Program. The Ministry of Education and Sports has utilized part of this money to procure and supply Science Kits to Government and Private Schools that are participating in the implementation of the USE Program. M/S Lucky Exports Ltd was contracted (Contract Number MoES/09-10/Suppl/3022/C0484) to supply and deliver the science kits to selected USE secondary schools (Government and Private) in the country. Each Science Kit contains one hundred sixteen (116) different items. A list of the equipment/apparatus contained in each kit is given below in the Table A.

2. The selected secondary schools will receive a specified number of science kits depending on student enrolment, with 240 students per kit. The list of USE schools to receive science kits is given below in the Table B.

3. The delivery of science kits/apparatus to the schools started in February 2012. Head Teachers, Chairpersons School Board of Governors and PTA and Head of Science Department are required to be present at the school to receive the science kits. Head teachers are advised to wait for and receive the kits strictly at their respective school premises.

4. On receipt of the science kits, the Head teacher is required to acknowledge receipt of the goods and issue out a “Goods Received Note”, whose copy and that of the Delivery Note should be submitted to the undersigned within seven (7) days.

5. Any discrepancies should be immediately reported in writing to the Commissioner Secondary Education (Government). The School Head teacher is required to write a brief report on the suitability of the goods within seven (7) days after delivery.
