(UPDATE) - Presidents Yoweri Museveni, Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea have arrived in Kapchorwa for the celebrations to mark 26 years since NRA/M took power.

The presidents who arrived by helicopter were received by Vice President Edward Ssekandi.

The celebrations are taking place at Sebei College. In attendance are Prime minister, Amama Mbabazi, envoys, ministers and NRM MPs dressed in military uniforms given to them at Kyankwanzi where the party had a retreat recently.

Nguema, who is also the African Union (AU) chairman and Kagame arrived in the country Wednesday afternoon in time for the celebrations.

NRA took power in January 1986 after ousting the government of the late Tito Okello following 5 years of guerrilla war.

The celebrations under the theme: "Uganda the Land of Opportunities: NRM's contribution during the last half of the 50 Years of Uganda's Independence", come at a time when the country will celebrate 50 years of independence in October.
