Don’t marry off girls - official
KABALE - Girls who become pregnant should not be forced into early marriages, an official of the National Council of Women has advised. Pauline Kirasha said young mothers should be encouraged to return to school or start income-generating activities. Addressing journalists on Saturday, Kirasha cautioned pregnant girls against going for abortions, saying they were illegal, have serious health consequences and were not the solution to early pregnancies. She
also criticised the international community for opposing the anti-homosexuality Bill 2009.

Kanyeihamba raps drunk men
KABALE - Justice George William Kanyeihamba has condemned drunkenness in Kigezi region. He expressed concern that many men spend their time in bars, leaving all the work to women. Kanyeihamba also cautioned men against producing many children, saying they are expensive to provide for and make them poorer. He made the remarks while addressing the Banyakigezi international community conference at White Horse Inn Hotel recently. The judge appealed to local councils to make by-laws on drinking. He criticised politicians who buy alcohol for residents to vote them into office.
