UGANDA soccer governing body FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa and Express SC director Kavuma Kabenge finally reconciled after their recent court battles with promises to work together to develop football.

The two met at the official opening of the first ever world body FIFA organised super division clubs management course at Jinja Nile Resort Hotel yesterday.

This was their first public meeting since striking a deal to stay the court case in which Kabenge is challenging the legality of FUFA.

The course is meant for all 18 Uganda Super League club chairmen and secretaries in line with the ‘Win in Africa with Africa FIFA World Cup’ project.

Kabenge and his KCC counterpart Richard Omongole who were behind cases that battered FUFA in the run down to Mulindwa’s re-election and Masaka LC V chairman Vincent Ssempijja, who is also Masaka LC FC boss, attended.

The course is facilitated by FIFA Africa area manager Ashford Mamelodi and Tanzania’s FIFA instructor Henry Tandau.

Referring to the workshop as a forum of local football structures, Kabenge said: “we will all come together and have a better understanding of our football.’

Mulindwa and Kabenge, who were in a jolly mood shook hands as they promised to work for football.

“I’m optimistic on a new chapter. I’m sure at the end of the course we shall be born again in football. We need teamwork and avoid all sorts of politics,” Mulindwa said.

Mamelodi predicted a bright future for football only if there is sanity to allow professionalism of the super league clubs.

The workshop is aimed at equipping club officials with knowledge on how to run clubs professionally.

Mamelodi quipped that Uganda will qualify for the next Nations and World Cup if the clubs and FUFA re-established a cordial relationship.

He advised FUFA to reduce on the number of clubs in the super league for proper management, increase competitiveness and cut costs.
