FORUM for Democratic Change (FDC) president Kizza Besigye has said the Government is responsible for the tribal conflicts in Bunyoro.

“The Banyoro and Bafuruki have stayed together for years and they have been at peace but it is the Government employing the divide and rule policy so that it can stay in power,” Besigye said.

He was on Wednesday addressing a public rally in Kagadi town, Kibaale district. He was on his tour to canvass for support for the 2011 general elections.

Besigye, who spoke in a mixture of Rukiga and English, told the rally that the Government wanted to use the confusion in Bunyoro to take away the oil. “You fight each other as money is being siphoned, especially from oil.”

Besigye said when FDC comes to power, it will prioritise infrastructural development, mechanisation of agriculture, improve the education sector by paying primary teachers sh400,000 per month and providing food to children in primary schools.
He promised to set up an electrified railway line for easy transportation to boost business.

He decried the poor living conditions of the Police in the country. which needs urgent attention.
