I am opposed to the death penalty

RESPECT for human rights must include respect for human lives. Countries that shed the most blood, recklessly rush to war, and/or support the death penalty cannot claim respect for human lives, nor human rights.

RESPECT for human rights must include respect for human lives. Countries that shed the most blood, recklessly rush to war, and/or support the death penalty cannot claim respect for human lives, nor human rights.

According to Amnesty international, “Since 1977, over 1,100 people have been executed in the USA and there are currently around 3,300 men and women on death row across the country”. I am opposed the death penalty in Saudi Arabia, Israel and certainly in the USA.

I am opposed the death penalty everywhere and under any circumstances. It is a shame that the USA, a country with countless claims as a world leader in civilisation, democracy, respect for human rights, etc is still unyielding to evolution. President Barack Obama won a Nobel peace prize yet he is ignorant enough to support the death penalty on emotional grounds.

He says he supports it in child rape. Punishment is among the least important aspects of justice that humankind should exercise primarily to deter future injustices. Most educated supporters of the death penalty, including Obama, admit the death penalty cannot deter crime.
