SALATIEL Otto, 70, a resident of Gulu, has invented a modern bow and arrow which he sells at sh45,000. The public can use it for self-defence and security from armed thugs, he said.

Otto explained that he used the skills acquired from a civil engineering course he studied in Kampala in the 1960s to make the tool.

“I started making these modern arrows and bows in 2002 for self defence at the peak of the LRA insurgency and armed robbery in Gulu town,” he said.

Otto, added that he earns his living from selling the arrows and bows.

The Pece LC3 chairman, Geoffrey Otim, appreciated the technology and commended Otto for the initiative.

“I encourage the public to buy these arrows and bows for security because, compared to our traditional ones, Otto’s are advanced,” Otim noted.
