UGANDA Cranes’ build-up against Tanzania on Wednesday will present Bobby Williamson with yet another opportunity of resolving his team’s away-match phobia.

“We want to improve on a few other things, which is why we are playing Tanzania away and not here,” the Scot stated ahead of his side’s trip to Tanzania today.

In the run up to the friendly against Sudan in February last year, Williamson’s chief concern then was designing a strategy that would help Uganda halt its winless run on the road – a test that his Cranes passed with flying colours.

Williamson’s youthful side delivered, with a 2-0 win over Sudan that guaranteed their first victory away from home since 2000.

However, the same side faltered in the subsequent friendly against Ghana – the Cranes collapsing to a 2-1 defeat despite matching the hosts for large spells of that particular build-up.

A few changes have been made since and against Tanzania, Williamson will be able to determine how well his side has developed.

The Scot spent his first session with the team yesterday refining its movement on-and-off the ball within restricted areas.

Youngsters Sula Matovu, Patrick Edema and Ibrahim ‘Sadam’ Juma are among the new entrants hoping to play their way into the side that will engage Burundi on March 12.

“I intend to field the same team that plays Tanzania in Bujumbura. The game will give me an idea on who can do what against Burundi”, he added.
