The First Lady and Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs, Janet Museveni, has commissioned 20 hydraform houses at Nakapelimeni Camp Swahili in Moroto.

The units are part of the Government strategy to provide decent accommodation and transform the living conditions of the people of Karamoja.

Commissioning the project, Mrs. Museveni said the Government was committed to transforming villages into better places to live in.

She called upon the communities to unite and work together in this effort to modernise Karamoja, adding that she wanted to see modern villages all over the region.

“Our dream is to see people build houses using the hydraform machines we purchased. I would like to see all villages develop and have such housing units,” the First Lady said.

The three-room housing units were constructed by Karimojong youth, who were trained by Hydraform Group, South Africa.

Mrs. Museveni urged the youth to take advantage of the tractor-hire facility to grow food in order to avert famine.
