Let’s learn to resolve wrangles

On February 11, 1990, the former South African president, Nelson Mandela, made a moving speech to the people of Cape Town and said: “To relax our efforts would be a mistake which generations to come will not be able to forgive”.

On February 11, 1990, the former South African president, Nelson Mandela, made a moving speech to the people of Cape Town and said: “To relax our efforts would be a mistake which generations to come will not be able to forgive”.

I find these words a blessing to all NRM members because we are all fighting to transform our party.

What distresses me, however, is the way some members are failing to resolve their differences, the reason the party lost in the recent Mbale Municipality byelections.

In the case of Rukinga county, I think the NRM national executive committee should organise a dialogue between Amos Mugisha (independent) and Adison Kakuru (NRM flag bearer) to resolve their differences before the elections for the next area Member of Parliament are held.

Let me re-echo the words of Martin Luther Jr: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can, hatred cannot drive out hatred, only love can.”

It is upon this principle that I call upon all NRM party members to always work together to resolve their differences for the good of the country. Remember, united we stand.
