Padyere MP election date set

RESIDENTS in Padyere county, will elect a new Member of Parliament on April 19. This follows the death of the former area MP, David Ringe Chan on February 20. He died of hypertension while at his home in Nebbi town.

RESIDENTS in Padyere county, will elect a new Member of Parliament on April 19. This follows the death of the former area MP, David Ringe Chan on February 20. He died of hypertension while at his home in Nebbi town.

The Electoral Commission officer in charge of northern Uganda, Joyce Wadri, said they were working to beat a 60-day deadline, within which the by-elections are supposed to be held.

“The law stipulates that by-elections have to be held 60 days from the date of incidence, be it death or resignation of the incumbent,” she said.

Wadri added nominations will be conducted on March 25 and 26.
