NATIONAL Olympic Committee presidents from Zone V are in Kampala today to discuss the future of the Olympic movement in the region.

Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania chiefs and their Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) counterpart Roger Ddungu will also share ideas on a range of other issues.

Today’s meeting follows the Zone 5 controversial elections in Nairobi in November.

The elections were rejected by the members because of alleged unconstitutional anomalies.

“We want to correct what happened in Nairobi so that we form an executive committee following the rightful procedure,” UOC secretary Peninah Kabenge explained yesterday.

Kabenge said that the meeting will also go a long way in forging a way forward for the Olympic movement in the region.

“We want to launch a new chapter,” Kabenge said.
