THE works ministry seeks contractors for street sweeping and cleaning of storm water drainages in Kampala city. The works will include regular sweeping of road carriageways, shoulders, walkways, unblocking, desilting and cleaning of piped and open storm water drainage manholes, gulley traps and gulley pots, according to a notice from Charles Muganzi, the permanent secretary.

Others are removing and disposing dead animals from the roads and road verges and planting and trimming of grass in public open spaces, roads verges and parks. The works are divided into three lots; the central business district, Nakasero and industrial area and Kololo area.

Bidding willl follow the Government open bidding guidelines of 2003. There will be a pre-bid meeting at the works ministry headquarters in Entebbe on April 9.
