FOR some, winning a bronze medal after a silver in world cross country may be a mean achievement. But not for an industrious athlete like Moses Kiprop. For him it is an inspiration that has rekindled his hopes of better performance next time.

Kipsiro’s dream now is to win medals of all colours in the most challenging athletics race.

Kipsiro who bagged a silver medal in Jordan last year, showed a major determination when he out-sprinted Kenyan Leonard Patrick Komon to take third place in Bydgoszcz Sunday. He propelled Uganda to three bronze medals.

Moses Kibet, Timothy Toroitich, Thomas Ayeko, Alex Cherop and Soyekwo Kibet won a bronze in the in junior men. Annet Negesa, Rebecca Cheptegei, Viola Chemos, Linet Chebet and Mercy Chelangat also picked bronze in the junior women event.

But to Kipsiro his cherished dream is to win a medal of a better colour.
“I am looking to better my position next time. Now that I have got bronze, I am looking forward to the gold medal next time,” vowed Kipsiro after the Sunday championship.

“Last time I won silver and I do not want to win it (silver) again. Next time I will go for gold,” added the Ugandan distance star.

“I thank all Ugandans for the support. And I promise to make them proud next time,” summed the soft-spoken athlete.

Following his outstanding show Kipsiro is the talk of Kenyans as the man to beat next time.

Kipsiro blamed last year’s injury lay off for his lackluster show in Bydgoszcz. “Next time I want to start preparation early,” he said.
