TENNIS - Uganda’s contingent of Simon Ayella and Lydia Ndagire is set for the 33rd Africa closed junior championships in Abuja, Nigeria, that runs from April 4-8. The team left on Friday and will be part of the East Africa region team, according to Uganda Lawn Tennis Association administrator John Kasule. “This tournament is a stepping stone for these juniors,” Kasule observed.

HANDBALL - Police men’s handball team and Kibibi SS girls’ side beat a strong field to win the fifth edition of the Makerere Open that concluded at the university sports ground over the weekend. The Police side dethroned Kibibi SS from the men’s title that they won in 2007 when the event was last held.

NUSFU sends 12 to Canada

ATHLETICS - After the somewhat successful outing by the national team at the World Cross Country Championships in Poland, focus will now turn to the World University cross country due April 11 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.Uganda is sending 12 ambassadors, seven men and five women, to the annual event.
