JUSTICE Simon Byabakama has ordered the Nakapiripirit district LC5 chairperson, John Nangiro, and his former lawyer, Edward Bamulutira, to settle their case out of court.

JUSTICE Simon Byabakama has ordered the Nakapiripirit district LC5 chairperson, John Nangiro, and his former lawyer, Edward Bamulutira, to settle their case out of court, reports SIMON EMWAMU.

Bamulutira sued Nangiro in 2009 after disagreeing on the terms of sharing sh216.5m, which was awarded to Nangiro by the Electoral Commission. This followed a court ruling in Nangiro’s favour in a petition filed against him by John Lorot over the 2006 elections.

The deputy registrar, Onyer, ruled that Nangiro receives sh96m and his lawyer sh120.5m.

Bamulutira appealed against the ruling in Soroti High Court on August 17, 2009. He claimed the registrar should have limited the award to Nangiro to sh20m only.

Justice Byabakama adjourned the case to May 17.
