THE MTN-FUBA league season is unlikely to start this Friday. Chairman technical committee
William Musaazi insists that everything required to honour the start this Friday is in place but he has got petitions from some teams.

According to him, several teams want more time to address concerns which resulted from the pre-season Sprite FUBA Challenge, which ended last week.

However, he refused to disclose which teams had requested for the extension, curiously arguing that “other teams would blame them for asking for the league to be postponed”.

He explained: “Some clubs say that some of their players got injuries and these are the clubs which were meant to play at the start of the league,” Musaazi revealed.

“Also some teams want to bring in new players having engaged with their opponents and found that they are not ready.”

Today’s executive meeting will resolve the issue. The Sprite FUBA Challenge attracted the top-four finishers from the three men’s divisions from last season and the second to fifth place teams in the women’s regular season.

D’Mark Power and UCU Canons won.
