THIS is a beef dish in a rich onion sauce, served with pasta and homemade pita bread.

Ingredients (1 serving)
1/2 kilo beef fillet
2 red onions shredded
120ml brown sauce
1/4 glass of red wine
Pita bread (similar to pizza crust. It is available in supermarkets around town)
3 teaspoons coconut milk
Pinch of salt to taste
A pinch of sugar
3 tablespoons vinegar

Method
Grill the beef fillet on a hot grill for 5-6 minutes and put aside.
In a pan, mix red onions, sugar, salt and vinegar to make onion relish. The vinegar helps to neutralise the acidity in the sugar.

Add the coconut milk, brown sauce, beef fillet and simmer on moderate heat until done, depending on your preference.

Add red wine for flavour and continue to simmer until the gravy thickens.

Suggested serving
Serve the beef with vegetable pasta and pita bread.
