THE Government will soon introduce a new method of testing for malaria to encourage appropriate treatment, the acting programme manager of the malaria control programme, Dr. George Mukone, has said.

THE Government will soon introduce a new method of testing for malaria to encourage appropriate treatment, the acting programme manager of the malaria control programme, Dr. George Mukone, has said.
“We are soon introducing a rapid diagnosis testing kit for malaria which will enable laboratory technicians to get results within five minutes,†Mukone said.
He was speaking while handing over 500 mosquito nets meant for pregnant mothers and children admitted in Mulago Hospital on Wednesday.
The nets were donated by Christian Aid, Coca-Cola, and Standard Chattered Bank.
The acting permanent secretary of the health ministry, Dr. Kenya Mugisha, said malaria can be wiped out of the country using DDT indoor residual spraying and appropriate treatment.
He was on Tuesday addressing doctors at Makerere Medical School during a lecture to mark the Malaria Day.
