More rural areas across the country will be connected onto the national power grid, a notice from the energy ministry has revealed

More rural areas across the country will be connected onto the national power grid, a notice from the energy ministry has revealed, writes Aidah Nanyonjo.

According to the notice, the a number of power lines will be put up across the country. They are are the 140km-Sironko-Nakapiripirit-Amudat line, Katakwi-Moroto, with tee-offs to Matany and Lorengedwat, the Lwala-Kaberamaido-Kobubulu-Amolatar and Kelle Port lines.Other are Ibanda-Kabujojera-Kamwenge, Muhanga-Kamwezi.

The energy ministry, therefore, seeks consultancy services in construction supervision of the various projects. Bidding will be conducted in accordance with the open domestic bidding guidelines contained in procurement Act of 2003. It is open to all bidders from eligible source countries.

The extension lines in the north and east are in lot one, while those in the central and western region fall unde lot two.

The two lots should be prepared as separate bids.
