ATHLETICS - Fifty participants will have their marks recorded by an electronic timer at the ninth edition of the Stanbic Bank sponsored ISU Family Fun Race at Lubowa on Sunday. Ronnie Kasirye, an official from the local athletics body said they will be testing an electronic timer for the event, but will be used only for the first 50 runners. They are yet to decide whether to use it in the 5km or 10 km race.

Expert cautions on age cheats

ATHLETICS - Germany Sports expert Gunter Lange wants to start a project where the athletes’ biometrics is kept from a tender age to follow them up when they grow up. The expert was irked by over aged players competing at the national primary school athletics championships in Mbale last week and warned that unless such records are kept, cheating will never end will cost Uganda in the future.

NASBA warns of marcenaries

BASKETBALL- Organisers of this year’s national post primary schools basketball championships due April 25-May 1 at St. Mary’s College Kisubi have cautioned schools against the use of mercenaries. Philip Katebulawo, the tournament co-coordinator said that the culprits school face a three year ban.
