What impression does Kampala give to donors?

EDITOR—It is really a shame to this country, especially the Government for digging ‘lakes’ in the middle of the city streets. Kampala is the heart of Uganda whose impression pronounces what is happening in the country! I was dismayed to read about the Bukoto pothole nicknamed Lake Bunyonyi!

If there are ‘lakes’ in the streets of Kampala then what is likely to be in the streets of the new districts of Luuka, Buyende, etc? Where are the trillions of shillings the Government has been allocating to the transport sector that cannot even give special attention to the face of the country?

What impression are we giving to the investors and donors who have disbursed colossal sums of money for road maintenance if, even in Kampala, their very first destiny, is appalling? Streets give the first impression of many things—including corruption and negligence!
